Once again I am handing over this weeks blog to my co-founder Breck. That's his 12 year old daughter in the photo!
I am a coach/consultant and my work is primarily about how to assist people in unleashing their creative expression.
There are many pathways to that initiative- Historical-Emotional-Structural-Mythological-Musical and obviously it is very satisfying collaborating and participating in the success of other’s lives.
And for my clients who are parents-Children invariably come up as primary focus in discussing their intentions/dreams transitions/goals, mostly so they can provide the best possible environment and or future for their kids.
I am not a parenting coach actually far from it-I am more of a parenting student but I am a parent.
I have 3 children.
I have an older daughter who has been in a wonderful marriage for over 10 years and is a very successful entrepreneur.
I have a son who is 14.
I have a daughter who is 12.
Today I want to talk about my kids and why being part of F* Revolution is so important.
As parent you can’t avoid being on your kids ride- Emotionally and Structurally. It might as well be that you dropped the winning pass or that you didn’t get into the middle school of your choice.
We as parents are inextricably hooked in or hooked up to our kids Hopes, Dreams, Heartbreaks, Happiness.
As parents we are always attempting to get off that emotional ride -If we get them married-or we get them through school successfully-if they land the right job, we will get some relief.
It’s difficult to tell if we are parenting in their best interest or just trying to mitigate our own fears.
My youngest daughter will say to me “Are you parenting for me or for You”-If that’s not disconcerting, I don’t know what is?
My oldest daughter is an extraordinary person-who has started a social media network for artists-She has been a successful singer all her life-she is now successful entrepreneur. She has a wonderful marriage of ten years and she lost her mother (My first wife) to ovarian cancer over ten years ago. She was there by her Mother’s side from the time she was diagnosed until she died four years later. She put aside her dreams and work while she tended to her mother.
My daughter had the foresight to push her wedding up so her mother could be there and right after, her mother died.
The point of all this is she is a leader filled with compassion and heart.
She is an inspiration. She is a collaborator and has an uncanny ability to access other’s talents and unafraid to admit what she doesn’t know.
She has the ability to express love and acknowledge others without losing any sense of her own value and worth.
My 12-year-old daughter loves and idolizes her much older sister and embodies many of the same qualities.
They are both powerful leaders-
Leadership, for me is the ability to express your passions in real time-reaching out and utilizing other’s strengths while maintaining your own unique contribution.
My son adores his sister and Gigi adore her brother. He listens to her and respects her and is learning from her.
I have and continue to learn from my wife and in return I attempt to impart those lessons to my son.
This for me is the point of -F*Revolution- and was the provenance of F* and where Grace and I intersected.
Some people are destined to work with the less fortunate. some people are dedicated to solving hunger in the world. Some give their time to disaster relief. Wherever you give your time in order to assist others is a life well lived. Those and so much more are so vitally important for the benefit and betterment of the world.
I have always had the drive to improve as a human being. To be better today than I was the day before. And to contribute that evolutionary arch to those around me. This need to contribute the best part of me has certainly become more pressing since I have had kids.
F* even though it’s primarily serves female audience- It is about all our relationships and powerful collaborations
“Behind every great woman is a man looking to make positive changes.”
